Publishing Co-op
A message to writers who want to be published.
There has been a paradigm shift in publishing. It is a fundamental change in the underlying beliefs and attitudes of not only writers, but the public about book publishing. There is good news and bad news here.
The good news? Never in the history of publishing has there been a better time for you to get your book published.
The bad news? Signing on with a traditional or mainstream publisher is no longer the best option for a writer.
Even though the window to sign on with a mainstream publishing company may be narrowing, and in most cases will no longer work for an author, especially a first time author, and it's not working because of any fault in you, the writer, and it's not because of the quality of your book, but it's the flawed Traditional Publishing Model itself.
They can't handle it
The big boys can't, or won't, publish all the books that need to be published. Because they are not doing it, those good books that need to be read, are still being written and still being published.
Alternatives in publishing
To fill the gap, alternative, more fun and profitable (to the author) schemes to get your book published, have arrived on the publishing scene.
Thus the paradigm shift
A new paradigm naturally appears to replace the old paradigm. The old paradigm, which is another way of saying, the old model of publishing, is a rusty relic, and is in crisis.
The vast majority of writers who are about to complete their manuscript, or have done so, want to see it in the form of a book. However out of 100 writers who begin a novel, only three make it to the completed manuscript stage. So, if we've written it, we are in rare company.
Javelina Books and the Publishing Co-op (see Publishing Co-op Website) are offering a free e-book called The Paradigm Shift in Publishing. The e-book takes a hard look at where publishing is now and where its going.
